Volatility - It remained unchanged during the time of day that China was releasing press release on new cases early on. Every previous event led to movements on the news release and vix didn't budge higher or lower as this time point passed. Longed VOL ahead of the time the chinese gov website would update the PR about case numbers. If no news the vix wouldn't even adjust.

2nd was after hours news from Italy of suprise number of deaths/cases that was shocking, same from China. No stocks/indexes budged after the news hit but post market was still open for 10 minutes or so. Managed to fully use all margin to short into friday's post market at current market prices.

Those are probably the only two clearest free money trades I've ever seen.

I need the opinion of non-newfags anons.
I started putting like 1-3% of my money into deep OTM puts with a 2-3 month expiration.
This basically halved my max drawdown in this correction for 1-2% less gain (18% instead of 20% or something like that, I was pure TQQQ and memes).
So my Sharpe ratio is way better with these puts, but the net gains are lower.
This should make me a better investor, but it really doesn't feel like it.

I took profit on those puts yesterday, so it won't 0 out the green day if we have one on Monday, so it might actually increase my overall gain in the end, but this is really speculative.
