Why is everyone worried about hyperinflation when the dollar is also an asset that can be held like gold or any stocks? The dollar seems too powerful to fail.

the dollar constantly loses value due to purposeful inflation, and has since the nixon administration
the problem right now is that the fed and government are trying to print their way out of an economic depression, rather than biting the bullet. This has happened all throughout history after a currency is debased; it never ends well

Yeah but what makes you so sure that it will happen again and in America? We have breakers now unlike in the past. Trading now is so advanced and spread that everything outside America has to fail first before we bite the bullet.

Well, if you took /biz/ advice to buy low and sell high, and looked at dollars and their purchasing power in the same manner, now would be an excellent time to start stacking paper.

As one anon mentioned though, usually it doesn't end well and the currency bottoms out. Then a new currency is usually introduced to reset the economy, like in Nazi Germany with papermark into the reichsmark.

I personally have faith in the US dollar for the next decade. I and some other people think that the US dollar will spike in terms of worth at least one more time before it will plummet. All of our debt is owed in US dollar after all and it goes against other countries best interests, ie China, for our currency to be devalued to the point where the debt we owe them is diminished in relative terms.

What confuses me is why other countries still buy into the dollar when the Fed is printing trillions of dollars each year. It's moronic.

But it’s tied to global oil price. Maybe oil rising is to soak up all that extra liquidity.
