>friend is in negative six figure hell
>gets $800 as a wedding gift
>immediately spends it on football cards at inflated prices due to high demand from scalpers
>'my fiancee would kill me but it's money I didn't have yesterday so it doesn't matter. Some of these cards are worth thousands so it could be a good investment'
>we spend an hour and a half at his bachelor's party helping him ritualistically open booster packs
>the cards are worth only $400-$500, big surprise...
>is also HODLing DOGEcoin because 'it could blow up sometime'. bought at $.07, failed to take profits at 10% as recommended

Every time I feel weird about making money in stocks and crypto I remember that it's typical of other retail investors to FOMO in at ATH or just HODL instead of taking 10% profits...
For every winner there is a loser so I should be grateful I guess..

He says he doesn't trust tap water because it contains xenoestrogens, which can give you bitch tits. I told him bottled water contains microplastics as well, and he should buy a filter because it's safer and more economical. He just forgets the conversation. I may buy him a filter for his wedding..

I guess? I have a mortgage but my liquid cash exceeds the outstanding balance (thanks Elon Musk.) Also I rent out rooms.

I think of mortgages as being a different sort of debt.. It serves a purpose that is unavoidable; either you pay rent, or you pay a mortgage. So although yes, technically it would be-6figs, I view it as more responsible debt
