Reposting in new thread for more visibility:

“I've always told people that what they should expect is something like the collapse of Argentina. Argentina used to be an extremely wealthy and prosperous country, just like America and the West today, so understanding what Argentina looked like after its currency collapse is extremely instructive as to what the West in general will look like. It got very bad there but it wasn't like, and is not like the prepper's perpetual-nightmare fantasy. Dominic Frisby gives a brief overview of post-collapse Argentina here (see timestamp):

https://youtu.be/og4YhOc2f2w?t=1210

1970s Britain is also an interesting parallel which follows.”

If you get curious to keep watching this documentary, skip over the annoying MoneyWeek ad and go straight to https://youtu.be/og4YhOc2f2w?t=2218 for the Weimar-Germany parallel with Britain today.

The advice which this documentary gave at the time before Youtube purged it was to buy gold, which in retrospect was pretty sound given that the FTSE has gone nowhere while gold has doubled."

I've done a LOT of reading about past collapses lately and here's what I've surmised:
1. Having PM for day to day barter is useless if not dangerous as it illuminates you as a target for thieves
2. Having PM is useful as a way to bribe your way out of the country, restart your wealth after a new currency starts, or to use for large value purchases like property
3. PM trading or even possession is usually restricted or outlawed to protect the govt currency
4. Usually the best use of PM is to cash it in for whatever paper currency has become dominant in the fall of the local currency

Still trying to work out how I want to shape my stack around these findings

It's not just pirate tier. Its how coins worked in the US until around 1800 when they started minting their own coins. Its why a quarter is called a quarter.
1 bit = 1/8th a coin
2 bits a quarter
4 quarters a whole coin

With the recent dumping in gold stocks, I figured I'd revisit some of my positions. Here is a brief summary in case anon finds it useful. All prices in USD.

ORZCF seems to be a decent value. Based on their 2019 feasibility study, $361M after tax NPV (5%) and $153M capital costs should yield a very good profit, even for the relatively low grades at their bombore project in west africa which is currently under construction. This was calculated using a gold price of $1300/oz. This study didn't even include silver, 50% of which they are now leveraging to fund additional exploration. At the current $239M market cap, it's trading at 0.6x the value. However Burkina Faso is politically unstable with military coups on the rise.

CPNFF at first glance seems like a dud. Their recent feasibility study shows an ATNPV of $359M and cap costs of $399M. This makes it seem expensive to run compared to even the low grade Bombore project for Orezone Gold. However the NPV was calculated using a gold price of $1550/oz. As we test the current gold price support levels, we should still see decent profits if we can get the Rovina project to production. It's also in Romania, which is pretty low risk compared to west africa. At a $42M market cap this company is trading at 0.1x the value.

FFMGF release a feasibility study last month, indicating an ATNPV of $995M and capital costs of $718M @ $1600/oz. Keith Neumeyer has a huge stake in this company. MCap of $202M. The mine is located in Canada which is way safer than West Africa and Romania. Just awaiting permitting, with production probably kicking in 3-5 years from now.

These are all projects that have decent estimated economic feasibility even if gold continues to dump., and the companies have done a great job in taking risk off the table for investors. As such, they are less speculative plays compared to other companies still exploring. For example, Fury has inferred high grades at 3 properties, however one of those properties, Committee Bay, is probably nowhere near economically viable all the way up in Nunavut. The other, Homestake seems to be a good bet, but again mostly inferred resources and economic viability based on inferred resources is a dumb move. Eau Claire has the possibility of establishing Fury as a legit gold miner but more work needs to be done to establish the viability of the project. Put your speculation money here.

I'm also excited about the Premier Gold project from Ascot. I sold at $0.94 to move money into other projects I wanted to see worked on and I'm glad since it's currently trading at $0.78. I will come back in early April, to avoid a wash sale.

Hope that helps. GLTA

You have no idea how bad things really are. The rational people that have been saying it's going to come down weren't wrong. The people in charge of monetary policy, and of course the Fed and big banks have just been duct taping, gluing, and rubber banding shit together for that long, but it will only lead to something far worse once it actually happens the longer it goes on. Covid was to be used as a scapegoat (circumstantially, not started in some vast conspiracy for that reason) but Trump didn't want one of the few things even MSM couldn't take away from him crashing to the ground in a fiery cataclysm so he had the FED pump the shit out of QE and the repo markets to make it hold on a little longer.

Not to get political, but I almost feel as though the election was rigged in the opposite direction (for Biden by Trump's people) to get out of the way for when this happens. That way everyone, including the Fed, can blame a senile retard for the collapse rather than what actually keeps causing these problems.
