Everyone who remembers spongebob as a staple of their childhood is over 18 now. We're unironically oldfags now.

that's not the point. the point is you're very underage if you think that was remotely close to actual c. 2012 prices. picrel is from an actual 2012 news article

if we assume the krabby patty is the most basic burger, the closest analogous product is the hamburger. mcdonalds doesnt sell basic hamburgers ircc, so we have to compare the price of the cheeseburger.

a krabby patty with cheese is $1.50, in your pic 2 cheeseburgers are $3.18 for 2 individual burgers (5.99 for a meal). pretty fucking close to 1.50 per.
a triple krabby patty with cheese is probably pretty similar to a quarter pounder. triple krabby with cheese is $3.25, quarter pounder is $3.89 for the sandwich by itself. so ~50 cents difference.

on the spongebob menu a soda (seafoam soda) is $1.25 for a medium. we know that mcdonalds charges extra on individual drinks because they want to upsell you a meal. if mcdonalds charged drinks individually at a similar rate as they do as part of a meal, then $1.25 would be pretty close to what it costs.

now look at chips vs their spongebob equivalent, coral bits. if a big mac is 6.79 for the meal, that's 3.99 + 2.79 for the chips and drink. if we assume the drink component of the meal is really cheap at $1, then the chips are just under $2 for a medium size. on the menu coral bits are $1.25, so again really close.

also, op said "slightly over a decade ago", so 2010 or therabouts. we can assume everything was fractionally cheaper then, probably even closer to the krabby patty menu

thank you for listenin
