The dividend discount model might sound like a meme because nobody gives a shit about dividends anymore, but this is your reminder that the fucking value of a financial asset or even rental property is the future value of the cash flows.
If you do not have assets that cash flow, and your game is owning shares of a company that needs cheap debt to continuously expand and expand their balance sheet, or if you buy into ponzi schemes that are essentially equivalent with the exception of real ownership over anything, you are financing an intelligent (albeit morally bankrupt) person's retirement.
