That won't happen insofar as the DTC is insured for like 60 trillion bux, but not being in control of your shares (as in when brokers shut down trading like they did multiple times at the beginning of this, and will absolutely do again, or if you end up receiving some settled value in the aftermath) means you aren't going to be able to sell for as much as you would otherwise and it may end up in legal action for months or years before you get paid.

Those are worst-case scenarios.
Computershare is GME's own distribution agent so holding there is probably the safest thing you can do to sidestep potential issues. It's either equivalent or better to holding elsewhere, but you won't know which until shit goes down.
