Just got off the phone with Fidelity, they confirmed the DTC filed with them as a stock split dividend and showed proof on the account it was treated as such. The guy I talked to was surprised how quick they got calls in the past 35 or so minutes because its breaking news. He said the DTC is in some really hot water based off the FC02 being filed and not an FC06. The shares Fidelity received were confirmed to be dividend shares and the guy said it sounds like the DTC picked the brokerages they knew they couldnt afford to screw over. End game boyos.

Basically gamestop gave the dividend shares to computershare, who then distributed it the DTCC, who then went on to incorrectly mark the split as a normal split (fs02) instead of as a split dividend (fs06). They basically kept all of the dividend shares and nobody knows what they have done with them. Brokerages from all over the world as a result have been creating shares out of thin air for the people who use them. When many of the brokerages have been asked (canada included) why they didnt recieve it as a dividend and just as a stock split, the brokerages have just started making shit up on the fly, doing everything from multiplying the shares and then undoing it and then redoing it and then undoing it again (germany), to saying "The split dividend was only for americans :)" (canada) to just flat out lying. Not saying you should DRS your shares if you dont believe in doing that (retarded) but you should at least read your brokers TOS and make sure youre not going to get ass fucked for "fair value" down the line
