Most coin shops prefer cash greatly because they don't have merchant fees to deal with (despite the premier setting most bullion dealers have razor-thin profit margins) and they also give out a lot of cash to people selling gold/silver. Hello everyone, I’m looking to sell a 1oz Britannia here in the UK and I’m wondering how to go about it for the most value. I’ve decided to sell to a bullion shop.

Is it just a case of getting quotes from every dealer? Is 99% of spot the norm? Anything I should know/pitfalls to avoid?

Cheers in advance. I know now is a bad time to sell, but I have no choice.

That's the most cucked financial regulation I've ever heard of, not what I expected out of India. Even Australia and and the EU seem like pro-cash paradises by comparison.
If you intend to buy a ton of Bullion at once (multiple ounces of Gold), it might actually be cheaper to fly out to an uncucked country to avoid Credit Card premiums.

Yes pretty much.
>Is 99% of spot the norm?
Seems that way, Chards buys them for 99% of spot so that must be what most other will offer. I imagine it won't be too hard to find someone who'll buy for spot if you look around a bit.
>Anything I should know/pitfalls to avoid?
Some dealers will give you better quotes if you seem knowledgeable and they know they can't take you for a ride.

In France, the cash transaction limit is 300 euros, and you can't buy from precious metal dealers AT ALL in any quantity whatsoever in cash (including the post office and their shitty overpriced coins). Also you can't deposit more than a tiny amount of cash without the bank trying to audit your ass. This is all allegedly to combat money laundering and terrorism, where "terrorism" of course means anything that's a threat to the central banking cartel.

UK here. A while back when I spoke to Chards on the phone, the woman told me that if you buy more than £10,000 per year then they are forced to document the transaction to the authorities. While it is shit, you've got to remember that this would have been set up to stop the laundering of money. I wouldn't be too concerned about it, it's not as if fiat means much to use here, we're all getting our wealth out of fiat and into commodities.

Probably they will. But of course that's the case for the entire world as well. The USD as reserve currency is on its last legs, and the central bankers need a replacement. I never realized how many countries hard-capped the general publics entrance into PMs. They (1)desperately don't want a run on PMs on a global societal scale, because they could not handle it in the least, and (2)want everyone designated 'general population' i.e. not a manager, to be a slave to their debt based fiat monetary system. The time for them to do away with paper fiat and move to an entirely controllable CBDC is nearing. I pray that it will fail and we as a society can re-institute sound money.

You're not hard capped in the UK, it's just that if you buy over £10,000 within a year the bullion dealer has to send the details of the purchase to the authorities. You don't get arrested, you don't get questioned, they are only interested if you got your sizable money through legit means.

World population is to big now and physical monetary is inconvenient. Even paper money is seen as inferior to digital in this hyper speed society. Personally the systems we have should be complementary to precious metals, not that fiat is the main monetary system. Considering how weak the western monetary system is right now as well as BRICS/MWS appearing to be a viable competitor, it's looking like precious metals will be coming back regardless of the existence of CBDC.

You can probably use them, so long as what you're buying is <= 300 euros, and then you would get 200+ euros in change. But I don't even know where you would get such large bank notes. The ATMs only had out 50, 20, 10, and 5 euro notes. And there are no tellers in banks, they're all been replaced by ATMs for "security" reasons. So you get what the ATM gives you, and that's that. The only way I know of to get those 500 euros bank notes is maybe a place like Comptoir des Tuileries (www.cdt.fr) where you can exchange bank notes for other bank notes or currencies (but not precious metals, those you can only buy with credit/debit card or bank transfer). So basically there are no bills above 50 euros in circulation here.
Also that CDT place seems to have decent prices on "semeuse" coins (83.5% silver content), so I might swing by there next time I'm in the area. Unfortunately it seems like they're perpetually out of Hercules, and other shops are overpriced, so I'll probably never get any of those. I just got in too late, but oh well I'll just stack other stuff instead.

>I'd get nearly 250 of the fuckers a day, every day
You make over $6k a day? I think you're misunderstanding what a dollar represents. That morgan dollar is a real dollar. The fiat paper has been devalued to the point where the paper is worth less and less when traded against the real dollar(Morgan). Without numismatic premium fuckery of specifically Morgans, you're looking at around $25 per .77toz US Sovereign silver dollar. The money is still worth exactly what it was, the fiat dollar just trades weaker against it. So, if you take home $400/day today, you'd be making 20 "of those fuckers" a day in the past. Granted, what most all of us say in here is that the price is suppressed due to actual supply constraints, so you may well actually be making much less than 20/day if we were to revert back to a PM standard.

If by some chance you are retard rich and make $6k+/day then please disregard everything I said, and carry on.

Only time I ever walked in on people selling was a big gaggle of 50-60 year old boomers selling their father's stack, he had a quarter eagle indian head, and a small pile of buffalo nickels, wheat pennies and a steel penny (I bought the steel penny for three cents)

The boomers fucks wanted to go on vacation with the stack, I swear most boomers have no soul they're entirely id driven. It was kindof nice to see them get let down from most of the pile like that, just squander their dad's savings on a trashy vegas/cancoon/sandals resort like that

At least dumb zoomers are really kindof just dumb, honestly talking to a lot of them most aren't "actively bad" like the boomer generation is just terribly misguided. It's absolutely by design that they are so dumb but they can definitely be "saved", I've shown lots of my zoomer friends things like the gold spot price chart or explained how minimum wage went DOWN thanks to currency debasement and their eyes will begin to glimmer (am 25, so basically the king of zoomers)

Back on topic any kids I have are going to KNOW about the value of PMs, if they sell off my coins when I die I hope it's for food, guns or a house. Mom gave me a Morgan Dollar her family had kept when I was only five or six, that got me interested in coins ever since. It's just a common issue, nothing crazy like a CC but it will definitely be a "Do Not sell" along with WAGMI, Holo and gilded Yotsuba

Depends on the minting of the coin. There are different grades.

Bullion
Brilliantly Circulated
Proof

Bullion coins are minted with a single or couple of presses.

Brilliant Circulated coins have additional care taken with them.

Proof coins are the highest quality coin you can get, usually have frosted designs from minting to make the design as well as the shine pop out. They're usually individually inspected and hand placed in the minting press.

Premiums vary on all coin types, but the proof coins will usually have the highest premium on them, like almost 100% and beyond. It really depends on the rarity and desirability of the coin for collectors.

If there is no hallmarking then it's most likely just a plated piece, though occasionally very old American coin silver items are completely unmarked, along with some older stuff from the middle East, India and Asia, but none of that is common. If you're referring to my pic then expand and look in the middle of the bottom and you'll see the German crescent, crown, and 835 mark. The G inside the jewstar is a silversmith makers mark but I haven't looked it up yet. I might get a Mexican coin to tide me over. She’s an angel and she’s got her nips out and a UK dealer has a few in stock at non silly prices. It’s not a queens virtue, but it has milkers.

I also haven’t bought anything in a month or so because worried about upcoming energy bill hikes knobbling my disposable. But i looked at my silver today and forgot I’d arranged it in the box to look great.

Yeah especially the based dragon silver, the older rectangular samurai silver is surprisingly affordable tho, I bought a few for my weeb youngest brother a while back. My handful of 50 sens was actually slightly under spot including shipping from Japan, but that was in 2018 when the PM scene was still sleeping.

May have landed a small jackpot numisfags. Buddy from work and I where talking about how much we hate fedex and ups yesterday because he was home all day and they left a note saying they missed him and now he has to go and pickup his package in person. Told him I was waiting on a package from usps, he asked what it was and I told him I collect coins and was waiting on one to show up. Turns out his father in law left his wife a large coin collection when he passed and he wants me to go through it for them and ballpark price the lot since they don't know anything and are afraid of getting scammed by a LCS. I get first dibs on anything I want or the whole lot. This is one of several shoe boxes and there is also a large moving tote full.

Yes, I understand that you are wrong. As I pointed out, Japan is big and fast and uses almost nothing but paper money which could just as easily be actual PM coins or bills fully redeemable in PMs. As for international transactions, do you understand how wiring money works? If you do, then you realize that you can wire gold or silver around the world in any quantity instantly. You realize that there was a world gold standard until 1971? Do you imagine the world in 1971 was clipper ships and oxen? Or that international trade depended on hand-carrying gold coins for trades?

You have a very strange idea of how commerce works.
