Mutt here. I only make 6K a month currently (72K annual).
I put 6% in 401K which is matched. After all deductions for taxes and health care I clear $2400 a paycheck or $4800 a month.
Rent is $900.
Car insurance on a 40K truck is $100
Car payment on truck is $350, I pay $500+interest to pay down faster.
No other debt. So about $3200 for everything else. After food ($400) and internet ($100) I have about $2700/month to save or spend freely.
Americans don't actually pay high taxes unless they live in a commie shithole like California.

I got braces entirely for free. I go to my dentist to check and clean my teeth every 3-4 months for free. I broke my arm downhill mountainbiking and I got it fixed for free. Basically can go live life without any fear of risking/failure since a whatever injury won't take a penny out of my pocket.

As for social benefits, uni is entirely free. Public transport during high school and uni as well, and subsidized laughably cheap quality cooked meals every single day. Went to uni and not only was in zero debt but I also part time worked so I was actually in pure profit after uni. Absolutely nothing to pay off, bought me a car and continued on working after uni I repeat with ZERO debt of any kind ever.
Basically close to no things to worry about in day to day basis since I was a kid and my parents are lower middle class working people.

Prices are a lot cheapter, especially rent (atleast if you move out of the big cities). You also have included health care, unemployment bucks and other welfare stuff. You also cant be fired on a whim like in the USA, its very difficult to be evicted, there is a lot of care and protection from exploitation. Education is also free. Its a social state.

No one here has to fight for survival or anything. You never have to worry about being homeless or going hungry even if you dont have a job.

Even a single mom on a minimum wage job will still be making enough money to afford a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment and have enough to feed herself and the kids. You get government alimony for every child as well, so you are not on your own.

It now dropped to about 400k. My gross monthly payment was € 863 a month but brought it down to 800 buy doing extra payments. Monthly net mortage payments are at € 720 at the moment. average takehome pay less than 1300€ a month.
rent is 500, energy prices up hundreds of % so monthly energy bills are another 500-600€.
another 400 for food.
have to have another job just to pay for rent + energy (heating season is 8 months per year and no option to not pay) + food.
THERE IS NO DISPOSABLE INCOME.

>most of us living in europe, decent pay saving 40% of income and will all be millionaire and have a comfy retirement
>others live in the US, make like 3x more but constantly in debts
My uncle and his wife make around 300k total and live in some Oregon shit hole, but they're literally in the red 10 days after pay, and are already thinking about selling their house and live in a camping car so they can retire before 70yo.
They made some bad choices but they're literally the >be american shit you wrote.

scotland/alba/norf britain here

ive gone to the USA for holidays a couple of times over the last decade and its utterly staggering the volume/aggressiveness of advertising

would unironically rather live in Glasgow than New York, which while nice to visit was also utterly mental; think a combination of overcrowding + constantly getting bombarded to buy all kinds of stupid shit ("BUY MY JIZZRAG") or with political campaigning drives people insane.

like in New York you'd see people standing and just screaming at random posters on walls or on billboards; it'd draw attention here, but in NY everyone just walks past as if its completely normal

saying that my one experience of London involved a crowded underground train where everyone was deathly silent, except for when a pregnant woman bumped into some guy that fucking punched her flush in the face.

proper big city living doesn't really appeal to me at all, desu
