institutions are all looking to sell their bags at inflated prices to retail
retail doesn't drive the move, doesn't cause the market to sell off 3%, but retail is what makes the market sell off
institutions for the magnitude
retail for the direction

My brother in Christ, the housing market is in worse shape than 08, debt is becoming increasingly harder to service due to rates and appears it will stay that way for a long time, and house hold debt is at all time highs implying there's a liquidity crunch occurring at the family level.

I've got a crackpot theory its actually institutions playing with client money while they have a smokescreen. If they lose, they can just blame it on the fed and the recession -- but if they win, they will be the institution that timed the bottom. Also - clients understand that the markets are dumping because of "everything", but they won't tolerate an investment company that "missed the bottom", creating a perverse incentive for them to roll the dice every time there may be a pivot.

You are delusional anon. Sosnoff's strategies don't work. There is no mechanical system for option selling that actually works for one simple reason, there are no options on any option chain for any stock that you can buy or sell that actually has positive expected value because the market maker for that option chain will not do that kind of business with you. Period. Pull up any credit spread on any chain and calculate the expected value of it. This is easy since the delta is a good proxy for the odds of the option ending up in the money. Now figure out how much money you would make and lose if you traded that option 100 times. It will ALWAYS be a negative number. If you find an option that has "positive" expected value try to buy it at the mid price. You will not be successful. You will have to move your bid/offer in the market maker's favor until your expected value is negative at which point the trade magically goes through. Sosnoff will never tell you this because he is a salesman in the business to take your money. The sooner you figure that out the better off you'll be though I imagine only experience will be any help here

Selling two options both with negative expected value do not make a positive expected value trade. Do it long enough then calculate your winnings. It will be negative. Sosnoff teaches people to sell options not buy them. If you are really good at timing markets and volatility you can make money buying options. Few people are consistently good at timing markets though
>>52881219

lol more delusion. The market maker is the person on the other side of your trade whom you as retail are trading with. The only trades that will actually get filled are ones not in your favor. Go find any option or spread and calculate expected value. None of them will be positive. Do the trade 100 times and you will lose money. Do 100 different trades 100 times and you will lose money. Been happening since biblical times. He's not helping goys learn to invest and trade, he's enticing goys to gamble in their casino. I have studied these options enough to know for a fact that greeks are a meme and mean nothing. The MMs set those and will change them at will, depending on order flow. It doesnt matter if you sell the 45 DTE 20 delta naked call. It can become the 50 delta instantaneously if the MMs choose. I have seen it. I have been burned by it. I have made money from it. >Buying is cheaper and lower risk since you can just throw lunch money at a thesis instead of having to baghold 100 shares for pennies
Gambling on buying calls works for people who are better than average market timers because they have insane positive skew. You lose a little money over and over until you get the big win. If you can pull it off over time then carry on
>>52881331
>I seriously don't know what you're talking about - you can find any trade with PoP higher than 70%
Win rate has nothing to do with whether a system is profitable or not. How much are you winning when you win? How much do you lose when you lose? What's the difference between those two numbers? If you do the trade 100 times you will regress to the mean expected value which will always be negative. DOesn't matter if the trade has a 90% win rate if the 10% of the time you lose more than you made the other 90%. Market makers will never do business with you such that expected value is in your favor.
>>52881336
>i agree with you but what happens when the 20 delta becomes the 50 delta instantaneously after selling to open? Is it still a 80% OTM probability because "it was just there a second ago". Its all a big scam to make you eat pig ham
Delta is just a rough proxy for probability of the option ending up in the money. The market makers use a much more sophisticated and accurate model that also takes into account the probability of a spread ending up anywhere between the strikes at expiration and any business they do will only be done if at the exact moment the trade executes the expected value for the retailer is negative

im net worth $2 million at 31 years old (you are welcome data farming bots) how about you? I lost at least $20k selling 20 delta short strangles in my trading account this year. Could say it was just a bad time to do it, or you could say it just doesnt work and found out the hard way. The entire scam is that the absurd amount of money that is collected from shaking goys loose and convincing them to sell naked is what funds the war in Ukraine, and eventually its what will help push this market back to ATHs and will push my long bags to ATHs. This entire planet earth is just a big scam and as the scam grows, more goys get shaken free of their shekels, shekels that could have been used to buy long shares with, and then you just never sell the shares ever, you pass them on to your grandkids grandkids, then eventually in 5 generations your offspring dont have to "work". Meanwhile millions and millions of active traders get BTFO every year and their offspring fill the water glasses at the restaurants while the shareholders eat and get served. Simple as.

Dude they've published hundreds of studies, hundreds of market measures, showing the positive expected value from these trades, from these strategies
The market maker doesn't know if the trade they're taking on will be a profit for them or not, only that the pricing on the options are not correct, that the option pricing should be $1.02 when it's selling at $1.00, and they are willing to book that, as on a large enough time frame with enough positions where they're getting that $0.02 edge they come out ahead

bro 1 short SPY contact can cost you thousands. I recently sold to open a 0 DTE short strangle 10 delta and collected $40 total. Then RUSSIA BOMBED NATO ALLY UKRAINE and the short put went from $20 to $500 in minutes. Only had a 10% ITM probability based on the delta. So I bought to close, which is the right thing to do even though it did rebound and expire OTM eventually. Are you really going to sit there and eat that unrealized loss during such an uncertain time when it suddenly and unexpectedly goes that much against you? DId i really not size my single short put correctly? If you tell me to hold though that you are just a gambler could have easily kept dumping (and would have if i didnt buy to close for a huge loss). That's how it works. They shake you out then push it back to where you wanted it after you get shaken out. It's not about sizing. It's about the fact that its just gambling. Yes - if you manage your risk, manage your positions, and follow the strategies outlined by tastytrade / Tom Sosnoff & the tasty team
they are willing to book your trade as explained here
>>52881493
The market maker doesn't know if the trade they're taking on will be a profit for them or not, only that the pricing on the options are not correct, that the option pricing should be $1.02 when it's selling at $1.00, and they are willing to book that, as on a large enough time frame with enough positions where they're getting that $0.02 edge they come out ahead

>Dude they've published hundreds of studies, hundreds of market measures, showing the positive expected value from these trades
You're missing a key piece of information here, anon. The "studies" that Sosnoff publishes and touts don't actually work. They assume perfect fills at mid-price which will not happen if the math isn't in favor of the market maker. All of the strategies are variations of a high probability negative expected value system that doesn't work in the long term even under ideal conditions and do not in any way survive an actual real market environment
>The market maker doesn't know if the trade they're taking on will be a profit for them or not
Of course they don't know the result of any specific trade, that's why they do the math and only make trades where EV is in their favor. And the EV only favors them slightly above 50% most of the time so they make their money in volume. Sure you'll win some hands, obviously enough that you think you're actually on to something but if you play long enough you will lose
To say it again, you will not get a fill on an option that has expected value in your favor. Why in the fuck would the market maker do that when they can just not do business with you. That's what the spread is for. You can try to get a mid-price fill on an option all day long and if the EV isn't favorable to the market maker you won't get filled. So you start nudging your price and as soon as the EV is negative for you your trade will go through. This is all done electronically and it's automatic. You are basically arguing that you have a system to beat a slot machine but please do carry on I'm done trying to save you from yourself

The market maker is only willing to take on the trade if they believe that the option is mispriced, that they are able to buy it from you for less than it's worth, or sell it to you for more than it's worth
That doesn't mean that the trade you are putting on is negative EV, or positive EV for them by itself; in aggregate it should be positive EV, if they are only buying things underpriced and selling things overpriced according to their models

Then if I limit position size I dont win as much because I cant martingale so its a catch 22. Either size it "properly" and not make any money but also not really lose any either. Or martingale and then run the risk of getting wiped but also run the risk of actually making some money that can be used to actually pay my bills vs a bag of chips at the corner store.

It unironically makes no sense. It blows my mind that people just accept this as "this is just how the market works bro", what a retarded self fulfilling prophecy.

That's just saying you collected more on the new position than you lost on the old one. You still realized a loss and now have a new position. Like I said there may be some cost basis tax consequences to rolling but that is irrelevant

We’re unironically going to pre COVID levels in 2023. Only big turds like Apple are holding up the market, the rest have reset. Look at Amazon, Meta, etc. they are all at or below pre COVID levels with still sky high P/Es. We’re going so much lower.

no problem anon
Here's an example, pic related. It's a credit spread on SPY calls I just pulled up so let's do a rough expected value calculation. Delta on the short leg is 0.3085 and the max profit is $142. 1 minus 0.3085 is 0.6915 so multiply that by 142 and you get $98.193. The max loss is $358. Multiply that by 0.3085, the probability of the option expiring in the money and you get $110.443. If you do this trade 1000 times you will lose on average $12.25 per trade. That's the negative expected value I was talking about. It is this way on every option on every chain today and forever

This is how they move the goals posts. The real rates they are targeting in 2024 is more like 8-9% maybe even 10% and even that may not work. They are lying to you that this is what they are going to do here. This is going to be a Fed action like never before seen because its designed to cripple the Americucks when they are at their weakest. They still believe the fed is on their side kek.

JPow spoke the truth yesterday, forecasted terminal rate is going to be over 5, and we may have to adjust it up at the next meeting.

Just like you said, 8-10% or whatever TF it takes. He was as hawkish as Jackson Hole, but without invoking Volker's name.
