Baby boomers were literally able to afford a house working as checkout clerks. They had a high-trust society, guaranteed safety nets and no stress outside of typical WASP hand-wringing. In the span of less than four decades the script has flipped and now everyone in America is supposed to "work hard" when the entire point of a first-world country is that you are able to live comfortably from the day you're born to the day you die.

They deserve far more of the blame for poisoning their children and grandchildren.
The only hope for this to turn around is within the younger generations, and even then I don’t anticipate a full victory but a balkanization, yugoslavia but worse. Find and read Selco’s accounts; he lived in one of the cities for a year during the war there. There’s a longer book, SHTF anthology about it and smaller posts here and there.

I was just explaining this to someone the other day. “Hustle culture” is the worst thing to happen to society honestly since slavery. In renaissance times no one who was all off worked, because the entire purpose of wealth was to be able to enjoy leisure time. Leisure time was the goal for everyone. Unless you were a slave, you spent MOST of your time chilling with your friends and family. Farmers, masons, jannies.. they did the bare minimum to make sure people had food homes and clean toilets and then went to relax for the rest of the day.

What the fuck happened? Humans are not meant to labor day in and out, yet somehow the masses have been convinced that’s exactly how they add “value” to the world. Now we just have a bunch of ambitionless zogs grinding away as “influencers” and “SEO marketers” and whatever other actually full on useless bullshit most people do with all of their time building products which move humanity backwards socially. And then people can’t figure out why after all their grinding and dollar earning they’re still unhappy.

Historically speaking yes people died from disease and famine and things more than today but generally speaking pre industrial revolution humanity was WAY more relaxed when it came to work:life. For everyone except slaves you spent most of your time on the life part. Rich people did not work at all.

You should read a book or two instead of just blindly accepting some idea around how hard work was always the norm.

the median US salary has eclipsed median real estate prices. making $40k now in the US you cannot afford the average $400k house at the current interest rates over 30 years. Almost every entry level normie job like a clerk or working at restaurants no longer pays enough to even be able to afford rent in certain cities.
