LINK isn't cheap til it's literally like 40c
There's people on this board that got in for pennies

Remember that LINK retards experienced a 5000x and still think their shit didn't moon, that's why they are retarded. Some of the wildest claims I have seen, people saying LINK can hit $100 and etc, not realizing that fundamentally it would have to have the highest market cap of any other crypto due to the small fractional nature of Chainlink. Getting to $200 Chainlink is talking over a quadrillion dollar market cap, because people don't seem to understand that, if the baseline "IPO" of the "share" is in such a tiny tiny fractional nature (think any coin with lots of "zeros") that means that the market cap display will be reflective of the fractional nature, you could pump SHIB to 1 quadrillion dollar market cap and it still wouldn't be $1.

So that being said, an actual real value deal of Chainlink is under $1, there's people who are still sitting on massive massive gains and those as far as im concerned anyone buying at these prices is just buying bags

If chainlinks going to be a strict utility token and not a securities lawsuit waiting to happen anon, the value buy is actually more like under a penny, given the extremely limited actual volume that will be moving through the nodes.

Uh, it’s literally quantitatively correct. If chainlinks dream is picking up cross chain oracle volume from swift, the current numbers for Swifts revenue suggest that the token, if used as a utility token, has a value below 10 cents, likely below 1 cent more realistically

Because the volume for institutions using specifically cross border on chain payments will be horrendously low. Using current numbers they will likely pick up less than 10MM in revenue a year likely, don’t forget the existing swift infrastructure will still be around and cheaper. And that’s not going to translate directly revenue into crypto demand, only a portion of it will be for the oracle staking fee. And to top it off this is at literal minimum 3 years away, likely 5-7 years on a realistic roll out timeline. The token will have like, maybe a million or so in buying power yearly. With a billion tokens.

>> No.53777243

>>53777153
This is not true. In fact, you just made this up. Institutions won't use decentralized oracles just to make cross border on chain payments. They'll use to feed smart contracts regarding tokenized assets on a blockchain (permissionless or permissioned). They are primarily interested in the transformation or digitalization of traditional finance, and in my opinion, this is what matters. BTC or niggercoin or niggerNFT are very cringe and useless. But smart contracts and tokenized assets are the real deal.

If I misunderstood you, please, try to explain your point again.

Except smart contracts on a mutable chain don’t need decentralized oracles that charge them for staking with each request, as a mutable contract can avoid any bad actor data and centralized data providers already provide perfect data in light of that. There’s zero incentive to pay for a decentralized oracle, meaning it will have to be competitive with existing solutions, I.E. regular STP -> matching and settlement from traditional financial institutions which is already automated for financial contracts, or centralized oracles, to compete with regular swift pricing because if the cost is prohibitive against traditional nearly instantaneous settlement there’s no point

I don’t think your rebuttal actually addresses the problem, in short.

So you are saying that decentralized oracles are useless outside defi? And what about CCIP? Also, what is STP?

>> No.53777715

>>53777634
Yes, and if we want to get into it I think there’s no possible way to decentralize “Defi” enough to not make oracles vulnerable to centralized parties anyway, making them functionally useless

CCIP can be done on a chain by chain basis without decentralized oracles for much cheaper. After all, what is MT202 to Swift DLT except a CCIP from real life to the chain

STP stands for “Straight through processing”, it is the systems banks setup so swifts can be automatically accepted and actioned based on the fields and information within a swift, so banks, inter banks, and software collaborate to Straight Through Process a swift into internal matching systems to automatically action the corresponding settlement or position updates given the payment, I.E. you receive a payment and automatically close out a position in your accounting software, you receive a margin payment and automatically enter into your margin and accounting systems, ect.

Sure, never said you had to. Just be aware if the investing environment changes the quantitative value of the chainlink token as a function of utility is under 10 cents, likely under 1 cent, massive losses are possible.

>> No.53777992

>>53777955
I still don't get this brutal change in value as a function of utility. Explain to me like I'm five, please.

>> No.53778043

>>53777992
Buyers and sellers create market places, returns of capital such as dividends and buybacks and voting rights give equity value, in lieu of these the team has decided to implement utility to return capital, predicted return of capital is extremely low, using average values for most appreciation in your capital over time you get this really low price because it makes no money and thus has no inherent value.

Well, as with any investor I’m only for or against prices.

At its current price, the chainlink token seems to be a complete scam, the project fundamentally can’t remain as described and provide a financially viable product that delivers anywhere near what it promotes on /biz/, much much less sustain anywhere near its current valuation.

However, if the token drops to below a cent and they register as a security, and the team continues to develop their seemingly working project with being an all around, centralized, oracle provider for chains/software that will use swift, I can see them growing into a nice role and taking a decent fee out of on-chain transactions for swift, all of these things would making purchasing that speculative stake in link tokens a good or maybe even great financial purchase.
