Without any high level knowledge I remember major spikes recently in price. Nickel along with most other physical metals in change are going to disappear in line with CBDC partly because of those whacky facts like a nickel costing 7-12.5 cents to make. Third is durability, people don't like to place value on objects that can be easily destroyed with exception to artistic pieces and even then the value speaks more to the skill level and time required to make an object that is incredibly small, large, or intricate out of a fragile material another exception is portability people will trade durability for portability for instance a mobile phone or camping equipment however people still expect a certain level of durability. Gold and silver possess shine, weight, durability as well as portability and therefore even with out their current value and dependence on them in industry, will always be viewed as valuable regardless of what new fiat is conjured into existence from thin air.

Brick and mortar places are typically a waste of time unless you're looking for something specific. Pawn shops can have some deals on gold, but if you're buying an ounce, shipping etc won't be an issue for said ounce. Hero bullion, bold precious metals and Texas precious metals are my go to. They all run specials on the reg and have the best prices imo

JM usually has decent prices on the corona restrikes for whatever reason. they are owned by Amark which also owns provident, silver.com, bgasc, and has big holdings of Silvergoldbull (like 14% or something).

also check gainesville coins online for austrian corona restrikes, they usually have good prices too. i personally have never ordered from them, however so i dont know how their service is
