Every illegal in the USA basically lives without one. I dated a girl that had drug and mental health issues and she never had a bank account. She cashed her checks (when she actually had a job) at a local Walmart and kept the money on some kind of cash card.

In Australia everyone has a bank account because they are free and have basically 0 fees due to combination of regulation/competition.

I am 33 and have had a bank account since I was 11 and probably paid less than $100 in bank fees.

Our banks also are not retarded and have instantaneous free bank transfers and we have a very efficient payment system overall.

Our country is an example of what a good banking/payment system looks like
