>get a remote job during the pandemic
>go from spending an hour in traffic, working eight hours, then spending another hour in traffic to working two hours a day, three if i'm busy
>actually get more work done, because i don't have to waste 80% on pointless socializing

Better yet if you get a boss that isn't obsessed with tracking you. I see all these tips about how to look like you're always online, but aside from the two hours I'm working, I just keep my phone by me while I sleep, play vidya, shitpost on 4chan, or whatever the hell else I want to do.

The best advice you'll ever see here: do whatever it takes to get a remote job.

working remotely isn't an option for most people. i work remotely but i got this job back in 2021 when more companies were doing remote job offerings. now remote job postings have dried up and they're extremely competitive.

I can type 100wpm and I'm really great with people but beyond that there's bumfuck at all reason for anyone to hire me to stay at home and be comfy. It’s definitely possible. You need to either make connections, be above average during interviews, have a great personal portfolio, build your own business, or all of the above. A degree is essentially a ticket to an interview with a little street cred. Lots of people with degrees struggle on job and lots of people without degrees who were fortunate to get a foot in the door excel at their job.

I worked in credit card collections and I enjoyed the job way more when we actually went to the office. COVID ruined my cushy job by going remote
>make almost 18 an hour base pay in 4 years ago money
>got incentive pay and was good at my job
>was getting an extra 600 to 700 per month
>had reached a position where I didn't even need to be on auto dialer anymore and was making my monthly goal/incentive by just offsetting accounts
>boss was one of the coolest one's Iver ever had
>office has a fancy cafeteria with some of the best omelets and food I've ever had
>COVID hits
>get sent remote
>incentive money dries up because people aren't paying bills
>everything goes to auto dialer, and its just people calling in for COVID relief
>company starts cracking down on people being at home and being at their desks
>glued to my desk for 8 hours and can't even watch tv/youtube or play games because its auto dialer again
>department was shaken up so I got a new supervisor who was an authoritarian prick

as long as you feel you are getting enough work experience then it's fine. you will probably want to transition into a more senior / lead role as you age. if you only have effectively 1/4th the experience of your peers that could be hard, depending on the job of course. the worst career move is to larp about your imagined successes in life on an anonymous online forum though, that will never get you anywhere
