You need to at least wait till you have $200 since for a lot of online dealers that is the minimum for free shipping. Buy a piece of small gold and then enough silver to get you to $200. If you bought a 1/25 toz Austrian Gold Philharmonic every month, you'd have almost a half toz by the end of the year. Many anons insist on waiting till you can get a 1/4 toz but the price can fluctuate significantly if it takes you several months to save for that and it's better to DCA in my view.

I went to an estate sale this morning, 2nd day so I feared that all the goodies were gone but I sniffed out this pair of c.1860 early American Sterling forks in a $12 bag of silverplate. They're not hallmarked because mandatory hallmarking and fineness standards weren't implemented until 1868 but are 100% legit, the manufacturer used to supply high-end retailers like Tiffany. 111.7g of sterling at $3.62/ozt asw is pretty decent, happy hunting frens.

slowly, over a long period of time. I started stacking less than a tube of silver at a time. Like 2-3 ounces per order from a local place that offers free shipping in-state. The silver fever grew and I started getting more, setting aside more cash for PMs. Going without luxuries and cooking at home instead of fast food. Income went up and I started getting into fractional gold, same habits as before to obtain full ounce coins. Those come by more slowly, as I have opportunity to spend on them. Going without luxuries also means not saving up for a newer vehicle, which might be imprudent given mine is beginning to show its age.

Look for reasonably priced silver. Don't waste money on scams like ASEs. If you are able to get meme coins (Star Wars, Disney, etc.) at reasonable prices they can be very profitable so if they're just a buck or two more than super generic stuff it's often worth it. Otherwise don't bother. Buy what you like and enjoy stacking. Coins, rounds, bars, whatever. Cut down spending where possible to stack more. Stack like your life depends on it because it might.

To reiterate for any lurkers:
People will often favor higher purities over lower purities, check Gresham's law. That's why everyone is jonesing to sell off their 40% halves or war nickels etc. at spot. Don't get left holding the bag. Refiners will not take something with such low silver content because it is uneconomical to refine (of course this is only in a scenario in which a coin would need to be refined for whatever reason).

It's better to save up you can get a better bang for your buck when you finally pull the trigger. The price of both silver and gold, especially gold, are relatively stable and will not increase significantly while you are saving. as far as I can tell, "allocated" vs "unallocated" is simply an abstraction from a real world to allow trading of physical gold in real time. The total amount of allocated + unallocated gold is still eventually tied to total amount of physical gold available and if you sold the gold on COMEX you gotta physically deliver it to London
the worst thing I see that can possibly happen is someone with a lot of gold/silver registered and in possession taking out short position, i.e. selling it, but then not physically delivering it to the COMEX, this way one entity will be on the hook for this amount of metal
even if all the boomer rock collectors in the world will buy 27.3 million ounces of silver, this will just reduce a total amount of silver in COMEX, but it's not going to drive Registered amount to zero, because it's not the amount of metal in the vault, it's the amount that hasn't been traded in a while
sure, the amount of gold and silver is ballooned by the futures, but all the futures that expire on any specific day all eventually resolve to the number of physical gold in the vault sans the deliveries in progress

I don't see how there can be a problem in COMEX supply with the exception of usual force majeure things like wars
COMEX clears all their futures every month and there is no "paper gold" in the sense "gold that may not exist"
that only appears when you introduce a second level of abstraction like GLD ETF, where prospectus spells out that while they're holding the assigned gold, there can be counteragent risk when they are borrowing paper gold from banks during the day to cover new buys
you gotta introduce the magical conspiracy element somewhere to make the COMEX specifically look unstable
