A stock EG Civic hatch is actually very rare and would probably sell for a reasonable price. It's a good project car.

>> No.55407317

Yeah, they and Toyotas. Its sad really. Civics and Camrys are the most reliable models out there, and they're meant to be more of a budget car. But because they're so reliable compared to others, prices have skyrocketed because everyone wants them. Low inventory doesn't help. So now, ironically, poor people can now only afford shittier brands, which don't even make sedans anymore, which further inflates prices, and older luxury cars, which quickly depreciated due to the need to constantly replace parts. Now, since poor people can no longer afford reliable cars, they are losing more money in needing to make repairs more often. This market is completely fucked.

Oh yeah, and Florida just banned car sales directly from Manufacturers, so now you are forced to go to a dealer and pay massive market adjustments and their other bullshit.

If you're poor, I'd say your best bet is a Nissan versa or similar model. If you can find one. Basically great value Toyota.

I have been researching a car purchase for the past 18 months and will share with you the absolute best value, although it is still not "cheap"

Buy a 7 year old Lexus ES 350 or Toyota Avalon.

They are the absolute best made cars with an expected lifespan of 250,000 to 300,000 miles (or more)

Both were considered a high end car, so a 2015 avalon has all the features of a 2019 camry, but is bigger and better seats and brakes. Same with the ES 350.

they are considered "old people cars" so there are many available mid-early 2010s cars with under 50,000 miles on them becauuse old people don't drive much anyhow and then they didn't drive hardly at all during covid.

roughly, a 2017 avalon or es350 with 40,000 miles shoudl run about $25,000 and prices drop about $1000 for each year older or 10000 miles more on it, so you can find a 2012 with 70k miles for under $20,000 and still get 150,000 - 200,000 miles of use out of it.

I mean its not that bad when you really look at the numbers. A four year CS degree will net you AT LEAST a MINIMUM TC of about 240k STARTING. You literally go 4 year CS --> 240k STARTING and then a little later you get managment roles or senior roles and you are at an AVERAGE of 350k-400k, so people getting to 550k. EVERYONE goes from school to a samsara, google, snapchat, ect. This literally what people are doing but then posts like this get made I don't get it. Everyone right now is on the CS train getting their average TC at 240k - which is 20k a month and more than enough to pay for houses at 7% interest rates. Average houses are less than 3k the average starting minimum for most all CS degree holders at 240k so it kind of balances out. Ditto with most car prices. The numbers make A LOT of sense and you don't need millionary TCs to do it.
