also with ASE's down to less than 31 dollars its the best time to stack those in the past three years.

Do you frens have any ideas of what kind of cheap/free activities i could shill to my bros once we're there?
Thankfully i wont have to pay any rent since we are accommodated by one of the friends and his house is quite spacious. And it's another friend who will pick me up with his car so no problem on this side too.
But only 550-600 bux (hopefully 800 by then) will be super tight for a week.
And i know those fuckers since i'm 10, they all somehow managed to leave their wives and kids behind for the week, and when their roasties are away.. cash is like molten lava through their pockets, they will spend 200€/ea a day in coke, ecstasy and liquors at fancy places alone...
Thankfully the city is quite smol so hopefully they will struggle to bring in hookers and college girls (read: whores payable in drugs), but who knows..

I need to occupy as much time on the agenda far away from expensive stuff! Help me frens. They know i'm broke and a cheapsteak, but they don't know the extent of how ridiculously poor i truly am kek.

if you want a rare coin i can understand not going to a dealer but there is absolutely no excuse not to buy common coins and bars from a dealer. even on ebay just look for obvious high rep dealers. they test the metals. all the people here that have ever got fakes its because they got it from this one guy on ebay who had 2 rep and lived in israel

No.
I see asteroid mining as a way to extract resources for extending/expanding space missions, not returning to Earth. They'll want Al, Fe, Ti, O, N, H, etc. PMs might be useful, but would more likely just be a novelty of useless mass for the space farers.

Does anyone have any recommended reading about what inflation does to credit/mortgage?
And I'm not talking about
>Muh Weimer you could buy a house and a underage virging for a gold coin!!
>In Venzuela 1 Oz of silver buys you an appartment!!
hearsay, but I'm more interested in more recent, relevant examples.
I.e. the high-inflation phase in the 70s, or Turkey nowadays, which, while a shithole, of course, is still a somehwat working, civilized country.
Assuming a wage-prize spiral and a fixed interest, will my, say, € 500k mortgage I'm taking now always stay at this amount of Euros (eg. €500k this year, €450k next year, €400k the following year, and so on), even if those €400k in two years might only be "worth" the equivalent of, say €50k this year?
Or will the bank say
>sorry, as you've seen, our money isn't worth much anymore, now you gotta repay us €5 million!
What I'm trying to ask is, can I take a loan to buy a house now and just hope that inflation will pay a good chunk of my house?

All you need to know is that inflation is money creation which is where credit comes from for mortgages because the banks print it out of thin air. Money creation must go at the same rate as the increased rate of production (such as houses) because if it doesn't, then it will create an imbalance in the economy. It wouldn't be a problem if the banks did currency deflation (aka destroying the money supply) to bring it back into equilibrium, but the banking system is a cocaine motherfucking addict which is leveraged to high heaven and must grow forever or implode. Everything wrong in today's world is due to the banks gambling with everyone's money. Now they have created a dilemma for themselves. Do they inflate more and more making everyone poorer, or do they raise interest rates and cause the flow of the economy to stop because people won't want to sell their houses if it means the imaginary price number goes down.

If you think all this financial shit is ten piles of bollocks, then congratulations, you've just figured out the debt slavery con system we all live under.

>> No.55657727

>>55657501
Also that inflation chart is bollocks. The way inflation is being measured is being manipulated. First it was changing the inflation system from RPI to CPI to make inflation look lower. Now the central banks are outright editing inflation numbers to make them look lower than what they truly are. They're not even hiding it, the Bank of England for example states on their own website that the inflation methodology has been changed.

The interest rate on your loan is designed to screw you out of that happening. You could still get that result if inflation goes well beyond what that interest rate accounts for, but that requires crazy high inflation, your loan terms/regional law not allowing the rate to be changed for any reason, and TPTB not flipping the table and raising the interest rate or redefining your principal anyway. At the same time, the value of your house may increase as well and you have the option to refinance later, however. Tons to think about.

You can still just play the game and ultimately do okay even if the can is kicked another generation down the road, but rates are especially shit right now. Owning anything you can is probably still a good idea if you can afford it long-term, but your timing may not be favorable.

As far as I understand it, there's two models:
flexible rate (which now is fucking over quite a lot of people, who signed up for 0% financing (which now is much higher…)) and a fixed rate, which never was 0, but can't be changed. But before I sign up for anything, that's def something I need to be certain about. If that'd be the case, I for one would welcome inflation.
>Tons to think about.
Indeed
>but rates are especially shit right now.
Well, compared to what used to be normal just not that long ago, single digit rates are still quite low. double digits used to be normal. But on the other hand, wages used to be much better and houses much cheaper. I've got like 250k€ available, and looking at houses, that's like, nothing. WTF?
>Owning anything you can is probably still a good idea if you can afford it long-term, but your timing may not be favorable.
At least I already own some farmland…(for the memes!). Guess I'll wait how the situation develops for a year or two. I'm already fucked, so can't get much worse, but maybe it gets better. Due to
>flexible rate (which now is fucking over quite a lot of people, who signed up for 0% financing (which now is much higher…))
it seems like quite a few folks have to sell their houses at a loss which is lowering prices a bit (still way too go).

Why does raising interest rates even affect existing credit? As I understand the banks are basically middle men and get the money from the central bank, from which they themselves loan it at the current rate. When those rates rise, does this affect existing loans from the central bank to the regular banks? I guess my question is are those loans fixed rate or not? Prep as much as you can and get out of any outstanding debt as you possibly can. That means preparing to move back in with family, getting some tins of food with a life shelf of a few years, some form of off grid power generation to keep the lights on, warm clothes and blankets for winter, and plenty of bottled water. Now this isn't going to keep you going outside of the system, but what it does do is sort you out if there's a big shock to the system. You don't need to go into overkill, just enough until society can get some function again. It won't be long because people seek stability, but unlike most people you will be outside of the initial panic as people will be rushing to get supplies. I think about some kind of money reform where money get's invalid for a time. During that time i might want to eat, and thus need small pieces of gold to pay.
After that i might want to buy the new currency with the larger coins i have.
I don't care whether it will be more or less worth than now, it's just a hedge against bad times.

There was this guy in Germany that died in 1965. During his life his saved money was three times destroyed, but he had a small stash of gold, which helped him a lot. His story didn't specify what form that gold was, sadly. I suspect smaller coins.

But yeah, appreciate the hint. I never really thought what for gold used for bartering would be in.
Somehow i suspected people would just weigh rings, chains, pieces, coins and bars. That would then get assigned a value, like 1 gram is worth 60 liter of milk or 300 eggs or 6 kg of beef, your ring is 3 grams, so thats 18 kg of beef.

Dw anon, it wont take 20 years. Last year's silver deficit was 241Moz, 150Moz the year before,.. how long can this situation last to your opinion?
Sure, it's taking longer than we all expected i think, but i would be very surprised if they manage to keep it suppressed for another decade. Even half this timeframe seems like a stretch.
If i'm wrong i'll gladly apologize, but i doubt it.
That said, when we started to go after silver, we knew we were going after the big fish, we knew the rigging game was in the hands of JPMorgan, literally the most powerful bank in the world.
Either by self delusion of grandeur or by under estimating the opponent, they proved to be way more resilient than we initially expected, but it doesn't mean things can't change.
At some point it may also be in (((their))) favor to let silver go up, and once it happen, the accumulation window will already be shut down for good.

At worst i'm sitting on a pile of crabbing rocks instead of piles of worthless fiat or inflated IOUs. Only one of those can be created ad nauseam and ex nihilo.
At best i'm accumulating generational wealth of an increasingly needed and rare ressource whose price have been heavily suppressed.
This is a bet i'm willing to take every day of the week. Don't care if i have to wait 10 years instead of 5.

You were the one citing Solomon hoarding gold, thus being the good stuff.
JPMorgan is Solomon x100000 in term of power and influence. And they are heavily invested in silver. So much actually they are the largest silver owner on the planet. So by your own logic you should be in their footstep and accumulate as much as you can too.

That's exactly what is done in some countries right now, they break out a scale and weigh a piece of gold and even silver to pay for everything from rent to food. Literally these are a waste of money due to silver existing, change is going to be in silver dimes split into quarters or larger, no need and a waste of money when it comes down to resources to/from precious metals trading/bartering. >>55658580
Don't buy 100 oz silver unless you are prepared to either melt it down and cast jewelry/silverware at 1/2 to 1 oz weights, or chop off sections into weigh-by-scale places for goods and services. Let's say your in the united states, it's possible for the government to go after bullion and fed minted non numismatic silver coinage, even potentially foreign silver coinage. This means you would have to either hide it and can't use it, melt and convert into a legally tradable object like the old folks did with gold rings out of old gold coins, or make into jewelry form potentially like a coin capsule on a chain or a beltbuckle with silver coins in it. This can bypass some of the junk/constitutional silver, but I don't think you can walk around with a 100 oz bar as a belt buckle and get away with it, same for 10 oz and kilo bullion, possible for 5oz, 100 gram, and 1 oz bars/rounds if it's decorative enough, but that might be decided on a glowie by angry glowie basis. I will also add in the chance you wish to sell for usd or convert into gold during a low silver to gold ratio then it's wise to remain under 10k usd reporting that occurs, as you don't want your address and asset list in a databank that can be scraped and sold to a professional thief, just saying.

I bought plenty of gold in jewelry form, sometimes below melt and it literally can sell for a premium over bullion due to maker and design, so no reason not to grab it up over bullion, if anything more of a reason as bullion is not protected in the usa against seizure as had happened in the past, but jewelry was pretty much safe to barter and trade with after many people had their bullion and gold coins bulk taken by the government. Also tip for anyone reading, if you want cheap gold, find a retailer that is going out of business that deals in gold jewelry as a part of their store, and wait for the 90% off sale, pick up many pieces barely above if not below spot, feel free to bring a scale the employees probably don't care as they are soon to be job hunting again, or go the day before and weigh out everything so you can just buy it before someone else starts picking up the pieces you want during the rush.

Possible but it's literally for a period of usd death and trust in a new currency forming, gold backed brics, china's currency, or even space bucks all we know, who cares I rather have the precious metals so I can easily swap over to that currency if needed, and either buy assets that generate more of the new currency or pay for basics if shops do open up accepting said currency, while holding onto what I wish to keep stored away, since it converts over to the new currency which can fall in value as we seen constantly happen to pretty much every country's currency of choice.

Dude, I've never understood people like you... At first I thought you were some 16 year old with almost no money on the bank. Sucks but it happens (although you should def have a few €k put away at that age from working as a jobstudent). But you're talking about your mates being married and having kids and whatnot. So you're at least in your late 20's... Just get a fucking job and stop wasting money on stupid stuff. That's all there is to it. Grow up, bro... Living like that is super embarrassing at your age.

I also feel like gold jewelry is safer to travel with than bullion as it doesn't look like you're laundering money. I've heard. of bullion getting seized at airports but its less likely with jewelry IMO.

I've got cheap gold jewelry on ebay, from classifieds, and even from bullion dealers when asking what they've got in the melt bin. even bullion dealers make pricing errors sometimes and sell stuff cheap (like those two watches I showed above -- the diamond one I still believe is worth about $9000 USD rather than the $4500USD that I paid).

>>55666517 Never tried asking bullion dealers about their melt bin, probably nothing but low quality chains but honestly might be worth pairing with crappy pendants and overselling to grandmas online for extra. Thanks for the idea on that one, and yes gold is safe usually in jewelry form for travel on person, not in non carry-on luggage, and try for big pieces as the bag checkers and fellow passengers might try to grab a small piece in a tray or you might miss it due to size while being busy dealing with airport security screening, this is where size matters.

you'd be surprised what gets melted. there's a guy in watch forum that said he got a bunch of the gold 18k mega quartz constellation watches for around melt from a bullion dealer that was going to melt them.

Its easy for people to say that they'd get them but not that many people have cash on hand if a dealer says "I'm going to melt this mint condition omega but you can have it for melt if you give me 18,000 USD in the next 24 hours"

2,004.93 / 29.73 = 1 : 67.44 GSR post premiums

>>some bars are different prices, even if they share the same oz
What do you mean by "right"? That aside, it should be a fine silver (99.9% or finer) bar. After that, it's a matter of provenance and taste. There are some brands that cost more because of reputation, (Englehard, JMatthey) or some highly polished bars (Germania). Kids here really like Asahi (for no particular reason I can discern). I prefer coin bars (those gov't-issued with a face value stamped), especially if they have a nice design (such as the St. Helena ship bars).

>>stamps add or subtract value?
If it's a coin and has that stamp, that adds a level of authenticity and might carry an extra premium (price above spot value).

>>other variables
Generally speaking, the larger the bar the less (percent) you'll pay in premium.

>I wish I could just walk into a silver store, purchase a plain bar of silver, and then leave.
You should be able to. Try a coin shop. Many jewelers do too, but my experience they're always marked up much more.

Umm... hold off on that. Do some shopping around.
Check the OP post for recommended dealers. I was assuming you literally wanted to walk into a shop. For lowest prices on generic bars, I'd say MonumentMetals or SDBullion or LibertyCoin. Keep in mind they have a minimum for free shipping (usually $200), and it's cheaper if you pay by check (but slow - you have to send a check, it has to clear, then it's shipped), ACH (electronic check - faster because you're not sending a check via snail mail), or ecoin (fast I guess, but a little pricier), or credit card/PayPal (fastest, most expensive).

Storage: depends where/how you live. If you have roommates (at uni/college), store it at home. If you think tarnish is ugly, keep it wrapped air tight (that's why all the plastic in my first pic). As you collect more, storage may become an issue.
