Stackers ITT here might not be able to visually tell the difference between a cleaned and uncleaned coin, but to a collector with an experienced eye the damage on a cleaned coin is obvious and distasteful. Your shined up garbage will never be uncirculated.

It’s no different than if an amateur tried to touch up an old painting or repair a rare piece of furniture themselves. To them, it might not seem like a big deal to do this since they cannot themselves tell the difference between a good repair job or a bad one, but to any furniture or art collector with experience it will be obvious and will decrease the value.

Consider that a current $1890/oz gets you 2362 breads, assuming they're around $0.90 each
