It shows you dont conflate investments with assets. I have $2.5 mn invested in assets, but according to my sister I have no real money cause its my money exists "just on paper". To her, only tangible assets like a car or a house count as wealth. Of course she sucks with money and is poor as fuck.

I'm exactly the same OP. Any physical item I have to research or weeks or months before I buy. If it's a hobby item I make sure I really need or want it. I hate having junk I never use, and I only ever buy the best available of any given thing, but I still get nervous over any large purchase. On the flip side 75% of my savings are in crypto. But again I don't gamble on shitcoins. Overall I think being careful about luxury items is a good mentality, but there's always the option of selling them on.
