I know how bonds work big fella, the fact is that the banks bought risk free bonds at the rate that was at the time to have against their client's deposits, nothing to do with opportunity cost as banks are not going to be sitting on cash for a year in anticipation of the FED's moves (which only happened because of the war in ukraine, powell was sitting on his ass for a year doing nothing saying inflation is transitory)

it's basically a situation of hindsight is 20/20
some banks were prepared more than others to a situation of a fast increasing rates, all it is going to do is tank their stocks because of bad ROIC numbers in comparison to other peers who were invested smartly and were prepared to a situation of fast rising interest rates
unless a bank run hits them where they have to realize those losses (which even then they exchange those bonds with the FED with that new scheme they came up with after the SIVB collapse)

also, not enough players aware that it's a dying platform, so the action just isn't there on the short side. put volume is relatively low. it's just not on enough people's radar. it did pump from $20 to $30 this year, from may to july, so there are some believers keeping it afloat.

20B valuation seems high to us, but perhaps given all the money from major funds, pensions, and shit like that, there's enough funny fiat out there to maintain this level. i just don't think pinterest is interesting, never have. it's for women posting about fashion, crafts, just stupid BS. i guess ads targeting female consoomers is really all that pins has going for it.

Yes I am. Ah right, the contract expires next week, maybe I should set my orders for the next contract.

My MDAX short is modest enough but I feel like over the next few months pessimism is warranted and MDAX has rebounded quite well in the last couple of weeks, so I'm looking at a potentially short term trade with mid and long term tailwinds that make it safer in case it initially goes in the wrong direction and I have to baghold.

>Why are you trading the futures contract?
I didn't say I was, but I am, and the reason is that the future contract is 93 points higher than the cash contract. If they're due to converge that means a contango gain of about 0.37% over 26 trading days which annualises to 3.64% which beats the 0.9% p.a. CMC gives you.

So the answer is to benefit from contango, or in other words I expect the future contract to go down more than the cash contract.

Oil was going to dump hard in september but the war artificially saved it. The october pump you had was the pump that would normally be in november. Maybe it'll pump back up to the new resistance at 82, but from there it's straight down to 60 bucks in december. Just like natural gas last year (and the boil baggies) so now with oil and the nrgu baggies.

Mara isn't an etf, it's worse because an LETF will at least go up when the underlying assets go up. MARA has 1) bitcoin's movement working against it 2) the nasdaq's movement working against it 3) shorters trying to push it down working against it.

When the Nasdaq and bitcoin fly in tandem, then shorters get liquidated and it goes 2-3x up but when one of those factors is out of sync then the price just crabbies and because it is subject to crushing your investment in bad times at a ore rapid rate as people panic sell it is not worth it outside of those calendar points where bitcoin and nasdaq move up in unison. Typically it would be January, march, junejuly and november, but november this year looks very dumpy poopy.

Czech start-up Bene Meat Technologies is the first to win European Union registration for laboratory-grown meat for use in pet food and plans to boost production to up to several metric tons per day next year, the company said on Wednesday (November 8).

Managing Director Roman Kriz told Reuters the company now plans to test how the product tastes to animals, while scaling up production at its current Prague lab and at new premises it is looking for.

Kriz said the firm, like others, used cells from live animals which grow in a vessel known as a bioreactor fed by a supply of nutrients. He declined to comment on details.

A number of firms are racing globally to develop commercially viable lab-grown meat and fish products to appeal to consumers concerned about ethical issues and the environmental impact of livestock farming, a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. — Report from Reuters
