i still remember the address. silkroad6owfk.onion. some guy (I forget his name, maybe calitreez or something) was selling stolen xboxes for $30 worth of bitcoin. it was front page news in Silk Road forums and everyone was saying he was legit. i was so poor i couldn’t even afford $30 to buy a stolen xbox. the description said he found a php exploit and could order from microsoft and ship anywhere Microsoft ships. loads of people were showing their $30 xboxes they bought.

Dreamed to big. Poked the State where it hurts the most. Got made an example. Ross' story is a tragic one, but what do you expect when you go up against the government? The War on Poverty, the War on Terror, the War on Drugs, these are all vital parts to the functioning on the US govt. Ross threatened to establish markets out of the State control, where they wouldn't get a single penny of tax revenue, so he got royally fucked in return.
In return we at least know what you simply can't work within the confines of the regulated market if you want political change in the modern day and age. But still, 2 life sentences, I thought the 10th Amendment was supposed to protect people from "cruel and unusual punishments"

The crazy thing about that post is that he posted his personal e-mail that had his actual name in the address. Doubt there would be many Ross Ulbricht's around, so it would be easy to narrow it down. But the post he made on Stack Overflow with his personal e-mail apparently wasn't found until a few years later, so Ross probably didn’t even remember making the mistake that got him busted.

>>56801000
I remember he was arrested in a public library in San Francisco? They were pretty smart how they did it. Apparently they needed to make sure they caught Ross red-handed with his laptop in use; so a fake couple in the library began arguing and or fighting and got close enough to Ross that he was obviously distracted and then one was able to grab him and the other was able to grab the laptop before he could lock it or log-off. That kill-switch USB device was developed as a result of this very scenario.
