When I took a M&A class, it was understood that often times stocks are purposefully undervalued in order to leave money on the table for shareholders as a show of good faith. You don't want to overvalue your stock and then let the price go down and leave everyone bag holding from day one. I would anticipate that any settlement will be on the lower end for the explicit reason being that the shorts will get crushed with limited ability to short. They want people flooding into the investment and grabbing the value and now showing up with $50 share price only to get shorted back down. I think they have learned from Overstock which had a huge pump but was shorted back down again.
This is going to be carefully constructed to eradicate any naked short sellers and leave them ZERO wiggle room to escape.
They are going to go bust very very shortly.

This has me giddy with anticipation. As shadowy and sketchy are the banks feds and hedgefuds, when you watch the court proceedings you can clearly see there are legal standards and procedures being followed that can not be easily spoofed.

I think we all need to step back and appreciate what Citadel's balance sheet even is. $65BN promises to buy shares is actually a potentially fatal timebomb waiting to blow. This is like you owning a coupon saying I owe you a billion dollars. Good luck collecting it. You could even harvest my organs and couldn't come up with .01% of what you think you are owed.
All of the value these institutions pretend to have is basically nothing. I think it is best to consider the possibility that ALL of the money is long gone and spent and all that is left is liquidity. They can slosh around trillions of dollars but it's not capital. They don't have anything of value to give you other than debt relief. We're bankrupt and the paperponzi covers it up nice enough so long as everyone keeps paying into the system for the promise of a percentage yearly return. Why bother trying to earn 10% return.. It's no different than living off of a credit card. They have 0% capability on making good on these obligations. That is what the financial system is though: It takes in good resources and labor and the waste product are debts/bonds/IOUs. It is like a spent fuel rod at a nuclear power plant.
