Does anyone here "actually understand" AI? what is "AI" to you? i see the same arguments repeated from both sides of AI supporters and detractors. i'm more on the supporter side, and all i want from AI is to simulate the life i never had growing up that money could never buy me. i imagine AI will begin to scratch that tender itch that a lot of people have, and we may even see mental health improve across the board as AI fills their emotional needs that no human can or really wants to even try to do.

The detractors say AI is just a-not-actually-intelligent auto-complete automating away the beauty of intricate human details that we add to things, and breaking it down to something that can be crudely re-stitched together. all the while not actually replacing the jobs that no one wants to do, and profiling/invasion of privacy becomes worse.

The supporters say AI is the second coming of Christ, and the moment humanity starts to transcend its own intelligence. pushing us down the path of every Scifi story ever told.
