this projects sounds very ambitious. Like the type of thing a billion dollar company would pay need to pay millions to a large team of software engineers to accomplish.

Do you really think their team would be capable of doing this and are sufficiently funded?

Why would you buy this when you could just get into Fetch.AI and make out with a higher % return? FET will be in the top ten cryptos by the end of this year.

Because fet is a similar ai type bs token nobody needs but since it has ai in the name the MC is already pretty much saturated. Not so with RLC. Thats all for me.

Their ETH wallet from the ICO: https://etherscan.io/address/0x21346283a31a5ad10fa64377e77a8900ac12d469#internaltx

+ they have 10k BTC from the ICO
That's almost 1b$ in funding currently... It's about 900m$, but soon it'll be 1b$. While they also have many outside sources of funding in the form of partnerships

TLDR;
The CEO literally INVENTED the forefather of cloud computing called GRID computing. Their funding is soo huge they have a chance of 0% of going bankrupt, they can FOREVER fund the project no mater if bull or bear market.

On the ICO you could pay with either BTC or ETH. They happily took both, but they always mention the BTC stack, since it is far bigger. + they took I think 5% of the RLC supply.

It's not just 37k ETH, used to be 120k ETH if you look at the analytics page https://etherscan.io/address/0x21346283a31a5ad10fa64377e77a8900ac12d469#analytics

But I need to also point out that the team finally stopped losing members... The first few years people were constantly quitting and changing, they just couldn't grow the team. Now the team is growing and people aren't constantly changing out. They now have probably around 60 people??? Somewhere along those lines, they had below 40 people at the start of 2023. They've also stated that they're much more in sync with each other in the sense that the roles of who does what are much more clear than they were like 1 to 2 years ago. I guess that we can expect better results now due to that

Yes of course. I just REALLY REALLY hope that the worker pools come out this year. Gilles did confirm in the twitter space about the roadmap about 1 to 2 months ago, after I pressured them with the whole Intel fiasco, that the worker pools are coming and I quote "They're coming out this year FOR SURE" and then he went rabbling on about how they might not have a lot of work and that they're working on getting people to use the pools in order for the workers to have work.

I just hope that me pressuring Intel was a wake up call for them...

This was published at the end of 2023

https://twitter.com/iEx_ec/status/1729893135516381606

Listen in from 14min onwards up to like 16min 40s.

This is THE FIRST TIME they THEMSELVES stated that the worker pools are coming. The PUBLIC worker pools to be more specific, not the private ones that have been running on the sidechain FOR YEARS.

Never has this happened before, all the years before this people were shilling "public worker pools around the corner" and now it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING. I'm just a bit concerned that it's not on the roadmap https://trello.com/b/oSCT5z09/iexec-roadmap-milestones . But they did mention that not everything is on the roadmap... Which is a bit weird, since why would you mention the worker pools coming out in the twitter space, but not have it on the roadmap

TLDR; PUBLIC worker pools around the corner! This time for real, Gilles himself CONFIRMED IT

This is literally the thing EVERYONE has been waiting for 7 years. You'll finally be able to provide your computing power and contribute to the network. The value proposition is literally INSANE, we could get as big as RNDR, since it's literally the same thing, but CONFIDENTIAL on top of that

>>57957866
Ah, I also forgot to mention. If you want to contribute to the worker pools, you'll need to own RLC. The more you'll have the bigger of a task you can compute. It used to be that if you have 100RLC then you can compute something that's worth 33.33RLC, so 1/3 of the staked amount. This will make it so that people will need to buy RLC in order to even be able to join. ANYONE can join, doesn't matter if it's a home PC or if you have an array of computers. The minimum requirements are not big at all. If your computer is idling most of the day this is PERFECT, you just need a bit of RLC...

This can change, it used to be like this in the beta versions of the worker pools a few years back. But the fact that you'll need RLC in order to be able to join is true. They might have change the 1/3 of your stack part, but that's not really that important. And trust me, people will want to contribute. You'd be a fool not to want to contribute. I'm currently running a Golem worker, while also doing work on Theta, because why not, I'm slurping up free money

Therefore get 100 RLC, just for the worker pools... Even if you don't believe in the project AT ALL, just get 100RLC in order to have a guarantee to be able to join the worker pools later this year. It'll surely make you money if you just setup a worker and leave it running

You only need 1 CPU, but if you have 2 that's even better I guess!

>Any idea whether tasks will be more CPU or GPU intensive or will it just depend on the work?
Depends on the task. Either you get a tasks that's computed exclusively on the CPU or a task that's computed exclusively on the GPU. But I'm not sure if the GPU worker pools will be available from the start.... That's up for debate. I hope they will be I guess.
iExec does have early access to the H100 GPUs, which they've mentioned a few times on twitter now.
Also if you look at the roadmap https://trello.com/b/oSCT5z09/iexec-roadmap-milestones and click Privacy-Enhancing Technologies you can see it say "NVIDIA GPU for Trusted AI". This refers to the H100 GPUs, which are AI specific GPUs
