This graph suggest that the hedges were able to sit on high base prices for a week before capitulating. It went from 4 to 10, sit there for a week, and then skyrocketed. I remember that wild euphoria I felt the last time this happened, triple gamma squeeze that first Friday, and then all the T+2 talk, and then the talking heads began the legitimate terrorist narrative. The calls alone which needed to be covered exceeded the float, and the short percent at the time was claimed to be 200% of total shares, so within two business days the call sellers had to come up with all of those shares. Volatility went nuts, there was a massive dip (I presume due to some form of manipulation), they turned the buy button off on RH, and then it happened, the blast to 480. It very rapidly crashed back down because the market makers essentially locked the doors so they could rapidly settle their debts and cool off the market. They then gave yellen her bribe and she said "they good bois din du nuffin" etc.

Tl;Dr: if the price does nothing but crab from here all the way through Friday, it will explode next week. If it drops all the way down to 35 on Friday, it will still pop up next week. The price needs to get down to about 15 to prevent any snowball effect from gamma action.

It's to keep the calls in line. Options trading can only be done during business hours for EVERYONE. Including big institutions. So far, we have closed above two full options tranches in calls. Overnight, institutions and market makers are trading shares to make sure they can cover the options, and then short during the day to get more and more options out of the money. Options have a T+2 delivery burn where shorts can be deferred with interest and loans and other Jew shit.

It explodes after market close because the market maker cannot afford there to be a gamma squeeze. Trust me, last time this happened for that glorious moment of 480 my options were worth 500 apiece (so that x100 per option, and I had a bunch ) and then the maximum kikery occurred.

Yes, short may exceed float, who fucking cares they can roll that shit around and buy time. The more options get in the money and stay there, the more of that float they have to reserve and deliver upon in just two days.

This also rings true for puts. On a day of "line goes up like crazy" with super high IV, buy puts for the following week. This again strangles them because now they have to deliver shares AGAIN at a fixed price. Even if that price is a "good one" it still forces a demand on the limited supply of shares.

By buying and holding shares, yes, you are strangling liquidity, but unless you can get float to 0 they can unwind shorts, and they will do it with fellow institutions. Degenerate levels of options gambling forces the market maker to act faster.
