I mean, do I wait until 2019 until alts wake up?

Normally alts are high-beta coins, i.e. they move 20% when BTC moves 5%, but the last few months when BTC goes up 5%, they go up only 10% (for example), but go down 20 when BTC goes down 5.

This has meant BTC dominance has crept up from 33% at market ATH to nearly 45% today. I think for altcoins to be viable BTC needs to have less than 20% of the total market cap (or ideally be replaced by ETH or XRP or something at the top).

I don't see this happening until 2019 at least.

Honestly this year will at least have lots of short term due to mainnet releases, starting may. If the fomo spreads across, we may see another full blown alt season at may. But I wouldn't bet on it, and avoid most shitcoins.

Not entirely sure I get the value of mainnet for short term price changes.

Take TRX for example, once that decouples from ERC-20, it has to proove its tech is as good or better than the old platform (which has a much higher level of trust).

If anything, TRX migrating to its own platform would lower the price since there is so much more risk / unknown with how it operates in reality.

The market won´t simply recover through alts, for them to rise again bitcoin ( therefore the market in general ) needs to recover first, only AFTER this we may see another altcoin bull.

Are you dense? That's what I said in the OP.....but the fact is alts recover at a higher % but drop at an even HIGHER percentage, so BTC continues to build back its % of market share.
