eliminates third party.

First you have to understand what a ledger is and how important ledgers are to business. Even without a fiduciary element, ledgers are everywhere. From contracts and invoices for goods and services to Excel spreadsheets kept for timekeeping to entire relational databases used to store every bit of information a company has... it's all just a form of a ledger. Then you should realize why business B would need the information in one of these ledgers created, held and distributed by business A. Depending on the circumstances a person could imagine why it would be extremely important that business A keeps all of their information in thier ledger updated and correct. Then you would have learned what counterparty risk means and the need for a "trusted third party".

so, yeah, blockchain supposedly eliminates the need for a "trusted third party"

Smart contracts is probably the best meme, whenever that becomes mainstream. No need to deal with all these middle men, lawyers, contracts or any other cunts that want to charge a fee for providing a mandatory service.

If I want to buy a house or a car, no problem. I just press buy and all the contracts get executed automatically for minimal fees. And the security of it, at least on paper is pretty good for all kinds of applications.
