Popular brokers for stock trading:

Robinhood
>commission free and no minimum to open
http://www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

TGOD pumping because it's dumb and doesn't make any sense. WEED and APH up a couple points. ACB flat, LEAF down 2%. If you're thonking ACB will go up quite a bit in coming months, buying LEAF shares would be a potentially favorable way to get extra leverage on ACB (ACB is buying out LEAF).

I had three lowball orders on penny stocks set this morning. My order on TBP filled at 0.66. Order on FFT (0.50) is within one cent at the moment. Order on RTI at 1.12 isn't going to happen, adjusted up to 1.15 and maybe. RTI isn't in position where I'm willing to buy at market just yet.

Here's my market research done on Dollar Tree currently trading at 81.76 on June 1st 2018.
The place was full of Patriots; 56 percenters, Boomers 50 and over, handicapped people. Truely America's Finest so depending on what your version of America future looks like Dollar Tree maybe the best buy you could make right now. Recent stock analysis have given at a 30% upside, it's cheap; Everything's a Dollar there.

I got a bag full of snacks and it was $5. However there's a "they have, it they don't have it" type of stocking style there. They don't always have the same stock and that's good for some things but not for cat food. So they're weak on getting that pet sector started. I was surprised at the amount of women who look like they would never shop at Dollar Tree but yet they were there so that's another point. I've said it before but I think Dollar Tree is a definite Buy.

Here's a pic of the glow sticks Anon wanted.

I don’t trust the market, but it appears things are on the up and up for now. By the way, OKTA’s earnings reports come out this up coming Wednesday. Not sure how it’s going to go, but if it does well like YEXT or maybe Aaxon it could shoot up significantly.

I just found out I can sell covered calls on $GERN for 65 cents when it's trading for $4. That's basically 16% gains every two months on a stock that's been moving sideways for years but has potential upside. Am I missing something or is this actually a master plan? Since it's so volatile I can close when it goes really OTM and wait to sell once it picks up again, or just let it expire worthless. I hear baggy talking about selling covered calls on SPY but this seems like even better growth. Pic related.

Shit's about to crash, I sold all of my stocks. Going to buy back in after.

Just think if you wait a year and get 2x the holdings you had before for the same price it's well worth it. Much more then squeezing another 15% out and then riding out a much larger dip.

Serious question guys.. I have been a market addict this past month. And my gf left me recently. How do you keep your mind preoccupied on the weekends? When the market is closed on a weekday, no big deal, cook dinner, go to bed, wake up early, binge on news. All week I've been happy as a clan. But this is my first solo weekend in a long time where it's really bothering me. I dont know how to distract myself or be positive. My stocks are up like 30% this month and I've got a good job for regular income to boot. But I'm having a really tough time staying positive. Any suggestions are welcome. Teach yourself to program.

15 years ago, I lost my job, was arrested for DUI and my wife gave birth to my first son all within 2 weeks. I spent the next 2 years staying at home taking care of my son while I learned how to make shitty HTML sites. I learned how wordpress works and now I'm balls deep in PHP with a livable wage.

Dig through everything you can find on the internet and teach yourself something. I would recommend python, considering the absolute state of crypto.

In a buyout, generally the acquiring stock takes a hit (due to dilution) and the one being acquired goes up somewhat as people buy it for favorable exchange to acquiring company's shares when deal goes through. If you own shares in the company being bought out you're usually in for some short term gains minimum.

A merger, as in partnership, could go either way for both. This scenario depends on many factors related to the deal.

In fact I've always heard:

Specifically the middle class because poor people don't have savings from living paycheck to paycheck and the upperclass is smart enough to invest it instead,
HOWEVER, you do need at least a little cash in the bank for liquidity purposes (paying bills and not having to liquidate your investments at a bad time to do so), AND capital one is far from the worst set up for doing this.

I love playing fast and loose too, although I don't think I really skirt the law anywhere when it comes to my stock trades, so more in that I love taking on lots of risk and making frequent trades like everyone else on here, but that's not something that I'd play with.
That's just about the most illegal thing you can mess with in stock trading.
Plus, there seems to be a tendency that stocks usually are able to price in the actual numbers by close anyways. There's a chart floating around somewhere that shows that there is 0 correlation between beats and losses for EPS and the % change in the stock price next day. It seems that real insider trading already manages to price in the actual numbers a full couple days ahead, unless it's a very massive and unexpected loss or gain for a fortune 500.

Although I've always been enthusiastic about tech stocks in general, I'm not super enthusiastic about cybersecurity after working for a firm that did that.
Nobody profits in a huge manner whenever one of those bugs like heartbleed, shellshock, or Spector.
(Spector was actually discovered by a team at Google btw)

Others to check out are Fireye (FEYE) which looks like shit but makes the news a lot, and Raytheon (RTN) which I guess is more of a defense contractor like LMT & NOC but has a lot more exposure to cybersecurity.
I do like Raytheon.

I do think there's a huge and growing future for cybersecurity, but I think firms just aren't going to "new paradigm" style profit from it in the same way as with the internet and machine learning.

Capital gains only applies to profit.
If you buy 1 share of SPY for $250 and sell it for $300, you only pay taxes on the $50 of profit that you made.
>I just want to earn dividends and continue to invest spare cash, building my portfolio long term. Would ETFs be a good route to go?

Ugh. My PEP position is feeling super light now, and it's already an inordinately large position compared to what I do normally.

I don't like bank stocks right now. I work for one.
Is BAC one of the one's getting hit by Dodd-Frank? If not, it'll be ripe for a JUSTing.
Auto loans are starting to rise very steadily in defaults despite unemployment decreasing ever more.
Home prices are getting overvalued, but not as bad as before the last recession thanks to regulators breathing down their necks.
Then, we've got this whole student loan thing. Yup. How the fuck will that play out?

Now,
Although the big banks can't be exposed to the juicy deals thanks to Dodd-Frank and regulators, they are lending heavily to the smaller banks that CAN pull the subprime loan shit.

In a recessionary pop, I've read the financial industry usually gets hit the hardest, and I think tech is pretty high up there too.

Now here's the icing on the cake:
The only bank stock I hold is the one I work for. And the only reason I would hold it is that they're going to make a national campaign in the fall/winter for a service offering that is absolutely going to rape all the other banks.
If not for this, I'd be selling my shares every fucking time I get them right now.
