I wish lolita was more like the old days. I'm still young and in the early 2000 i was only a preteen and i knew nothing about lolita but i feel that lolita lifestyle, the simpler cuts, casual styles, no need to buy the latest burando piece or following the trends was more appealing for my taste. Now, i see the most thing closer to lifestyle is only hoarding pieces and wear the most OTT coordinate, casual lolita is ignored or labelled as ita even with acutal burando cutsews and simpler skirts, most lolitas nowadays wear the fashion only during meets or cons . I dislike all of this because it loses that rebellious, "fuck the normies" allure, for this before we had more lolitas that were into alt subcutures like goth in the past. Modern lolita become like a cosplay competition, unlike other jfashions except for more OTT stuff like shironuri, rather than a real street fashion.
I noticed in the old street snaps, i see what the girls pictured listened, maybe old school was somewhat connected into listening to some artists like Malice Mizer or some visual kei. I really loved that.

old-school ain't going no where. I've seen recent GLB street snaps with girls still doing this.

Raschel lace monsters and funky 90s trends are great (and lulzy), but I actually like how cleaned up the traditional lolita look is. It's here to stay.
