I don't know where you live, but I think both assumptions are debatable (1. that 'this' is the main representation of cosplay today, and 2. that this is depressing by default)

Okay, this is a habit that you could look into changing. The reason is, if you 'decide' how to feel based on things you can't control (for example, "costhots"), then you're building yourself a road to depression. To stop this feeling of depression, it's crucial that you don't let these things affect you. So, instead of anguish, a better reaction would be "meh, whatever, I'll just cosplay what I want"

Focus on what's directly under your control, because then you can work on feeling better with yourself, anon. For example, if what made you depressed was something like, idk, "being overweight", that's certainly easier to change than people selling pics of themselves in the Internet, right?
