A thread for people who have been to Japan to reminisce and speculate about re-opening. I lived in Japan for about 2 years before the rona. There’s definitely shit I don’t miss but on the whole I really miss it.

What are your favorite things about your trip? What are things you don’t miss? When do you think they’ll reopen?

i'm not even a gothic lolita but i think it looks really pretty, post coords and stuff.

I was wondering, how do japanese citizens (all categories) view lolita? I know it's like here by the fact that some like it and think it's ok to be eccentric and some don't understand/don't like it/... or even hate on it, buti was wondering what kind of stereotypes they put on it. Like here in Europe if a girl dress all black at school,idiots are gonna assume she eats cockroaches,pray Satan and shit.
I heard at some point on a translated 2chan discussion that they viewed lolita like we view emos (cutters), i also saw somewhere that lolitas were seen as "so arrogant" for wearing "such clothes".
The rest of the time it's just the same thing ("weird", "mental problems" and "trying to be a tacky princess" at worst)

Also general differences between here and Japan regarding the alt fashion. (such as "rules" for fashions being much less present in Japan)

I'm the anon who posted that picture and it's totally not a self-post. I just did a google-search for old school lolita, but I didn't look into when the file was made. I do recognize the lolita though, but only because of the bathroom -kek -- so yeah, I'm sorry for cheating a little instead of finding an actual outfit from pre-radioactive cupcake sweet lolita like OP wanted. I just thought that the elements looked cute together. If it were really from a while ago, the petticoat would at least be less fuller.

I've been involved in lolita since there used to be a myspace group for the fashion. If you want to let your bloomers get in a bunch, at least contribute.
