Its not bad and don't bother crediting where you bought it. Just say that you bought it and if someone asks then say where you bought it. If you get it commissioned, however, state who made it right off the bat. I buy my cosplays all the time and I alter them accordingly. I don't bother stating where I bought them from because they are usually from generic cosplay sites. I just say stuff like, "My cosplay came in the mail!" if I make a status about it. Also I say I alter it when I alter it and state what exactly I alter.

The idea that bought cosplays is frowned upon is really bothersome to me. As you stay in the community you really just stop caring about what others think about you buying or not. I used to care, but I don't anymore. I am not a good seamstress either. If anyone really wants to give you shit about it then just let them. Don't start raging and talking about elitism. Just let them look like idiots and smile and say you just aren't a good seamstress, but you are trying to learn, so that you don't have to buy everything and make pieces slowly as you learn.

People will give you shit, but seriously ignore them. Buy what you need, alter it if you need, ask for help if you need, or make it completely yourself. Do whatever you want. This community has become overly toxic, but there are a many good handful of us who don't care about store bought or not.
