I'm anxious and a bit socially awkward with basically one really good friend I only see in person 1-2 times a year. This year I got over it and went on a trip by myself to two big theme parks and had a blast and I've done conventions by myself in the past as well.

You may think it'll all go wrong but once you get there and have fun, you'll be alright. If you're worried about interacting with people at a convention, either get a costume or get a camera. All you have to do is exchange a few words with people for photos and you'll be on your way with a small but positive interaction to boost your confidence.
