Okay something just occured to me and i'd like a little clarity

I ordered a costume using TaoBao Focus (because debit) and it cost around 37 bucks, and that was all fine and dandy.

Now, when the order arrived, it wanted me to pay another 33.58, which I paid without questioning.

Only now, a day after I paid that much, do I realize, "What the fuck? That's almost the price of the damn costume itself! I need to check this out..."

So I go back to view my order and apparently international shipping was 197.5 RMB... wait what??

Is this normal? I chose EMS when they asked what kind of shipping I wanted... did I do something wrong? Was it a thing on the shopping service's end or the seller's?

Sorry, i'm new to this as you can probably tell.
