I've heard good things about the Chocolate Bar palette's colour payoff. As for the smaller palettes, I tried out the Naked Eye Palette a couple years ago and found the payoff a bit weak. I think it could work with a primer or cream shadow base, but if it's a generic neutral palette you're looking for, I feel like you'd have less of a hassle with other brands.

I may be among the few who really didn't like Smashbox's face primer. It's a lot greasier than other brands (NARS, MUFE, Bare Minerals).
Bobbi Brown's eye cream isn't good for sensitive skin. Similar reaction to the one you described for Philosophy's eye cream.

I have six billion dry skin issues (scalp, edges of mouth, eczema patches elsewhere, sometimes even on my eyelids). The only thing that worked for me on the mouth patches (angular cheilitis) was a topical antibiotic prescribed by a derm, unfortunately. You may have some luck with vaseline at night. If you have a habit of wiping your mouth with your hands or harsh napkins, be gentle for a while.

I got the 500 point palette too. Took me a little too long to realize that the primer potion sample was hidden somewhere in the box and had to be torn off.

Here's what I picked up in the 20% off sale. Mascara was for my mom since she wanted to try a new one from a brand she trusted. Blush was for a friend's birthday gift.

Comments:
- NARS matte lip pencil applies like a dream. This one is like a warm undertones, less blue version of MAC Ruby Woo.
- This Bite pencil set is super nice and surprisingly cheap. They all have a glossy texture. Case has a mirror. They would layer well over similar colours if you want to add shine to a matte lipstick.
- Not sure what to think of Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette yet. Will have to try with a proper foundation base. It seems like it would be good for really subtle contouring.
