Are you the br/o/ from the East Coast in that other thread? There are conventions specifically for this kind of stuff. I go to Maker Faire on the west coast, they always have a strong showing of Mad Max aesthetic and a lot of the people (even the girls) are into metalworking, machinery, etc. Pretty sire they happen in your area too.
