tl;dr people have different tastes and it's a staple AP cut, so that causes salt.

Long version, it's a cut that tends to look better on flat people and a lot of Westerners aren't flat, hence anger from them when AP keeps reusing the cut over and over again and they only do 2 cuts of whatever print.
