Any tutorials for boots?

I'm currently working on gloves and Bracers. For the gloves I'm just going to superglue some hand painted Eva foam and cardstock to some black gloves. Bracers are going to be EVA covered in fabric, but I need some large straps or clips to attach on them.

I've reached a snag in my design.

So in the source material the helmet covers his chin or at least the front of it. I've built the foam model with an open face and I'm unsure of what to do about the chin right now. I'm concerned that when I paint and gloss it that it won'ttake too kind to bending as it slides on my head.

Should I build it separate and use magnets? Or is this a non issue?

I plan on using the wood paint + primer method anon linked by evil Ted I think.
