I'd be buying the van for van reasons anyway so it's not like I'd only be using it once a year and it's not like it'd be brand new, either. I'd be more akin to pic related (probably without the paint and wheels at first) and I'd just drop a bed in the back.
All that said I made a few friends at my last con so rooming with one or two of them at my local con is entirely within reason but I'm hoping to branch out more in the coming years and I may or may not have friends at the cons I attend. I just want to see if it'd be feasible to drop into the Dragon Con thread or whatever and ask to borrow a shower or if that'd be completely out of the question.
It'd also be a lot cheaper to drive to literally any con in the country and sleep in the van than to fly and rent a hotel room for the weekend on my own.
