it's funny because I come from a little isolated rural mid fuck nowhere desert where cons and animu don't exist and I've always been cosplaying nevertheless all my life, even if just to post online

but lately my passion is simply all gone.

it doesn't help that more and more all you see online is onlyfans cheap shooped content and less actual content.

I'm ugly as shit and poorfag, so why sacrifice so much money and time for cosplay only to post it online and get 3 likes when some shooped plastic wannabe model with some aliexpress wig and not even accurate closet clothes (muh CASUAL COSPLAY) will get much more recognition simply for her body?

i just wanna go back to cons and see the smile on people's faces and joy in their hearts recognising my cosplays gulls, it hurts

I didn't really quit but I barely do it anymore.
Pretty much when I realized in the end it's turned into a industrialised mainstream consumerist thing. It's all about fame, attention, superficialism, money and whatnot.

Maybe it was the combination of boring drama every single month + learning how much shoop actually goes into things and how to do it myself and realizing how meaningless my effort into my passion and nerdiness was.

But maybe the final nail on the head was a very popular elite cosplayer I worked with that was a special friend in my heart like family telling me to stop flirting with them because it was a bad look on them to the public eye and their cosplay career, then turning around and flirting with some plastic model costhots obviously more attractive than me and with more thousands of followers online.
Shit fucked me up so much for a while, mentally, emotionally, even physically.

It used to be a context of passion and nerdiness with its ups and downs, now I'd say the best comparison I have to the current cosplay scene is the makeup/beauty community.

If you're not meeting the instagram model standards and being a SJW twitter yes man, you're stepped all over and eaten alive.

the organizers are obviously skimming money now. It sucks because last time I checked AN had record numbers in attendees, even though it's not very expensive to organize and the panels suck. That being said, I have the most fun there because it's 1/4 giant photoshoot, 1/4 buy buy buy, 1/4 cringe fest (panels), and 1/4 get drunk do drugs and party.
This year though I want to start taking pics of stuff like pic related.
