I went to my first con and loved it, I've been hanging around /cgl/ more and more and also love this place. You guys are great, thanks for helping me get into cosplay.

To be honest I really don't care about that part of lolita.
Sure, there's always that short moment of "Wow, her nails perfectly match her print and this specific hair accessory and bag!" but I think it's way more impressive when someone has a super cohesive wardrobe and every item in it can be used in multiple ways.

Buying one really specific thing that only matches one coord does make it feel quite custome-y plus it just seems like a waste to me.
I'd rather only spend money on items that I can get a lot of use out of.

Oh well, I still think it's great when people get joy out of those kind of outfits and I understand why they appeal to others, but simple & versatile lolita will always be more 'impressive' to me.
