I don't know. The seller didn't say anything about modifications at all. I figured it was a bit odd as well, which is another reason I really wanted it. Just from the images the seller posted and the way the ribbons are tied, I'd say they look to be original to meta... at least they look similarly tied to all the bows on my old school meta stuff.
