/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

New to /cgl/ so sorry if there's a general for this topic but I couldn't find anything with the catalog

I never cosplayed before and I'm trying to start off with something simple but not cheap looking

I thought about a Naota cosplay from FLCL, I also could paint an old vespa of mine yellow and add the P! Sticker (Vespa should be the same model as in the anime)

What does /cgl/ think about my Idea?
What am I doing wrong?

So since FLCL is getting a second season I got excited I decided to cosplay as Naota. I've spent hours looking for something close to his jacket but I can't find any.
Does anyone have any tips? I can't find anything with this kinda collar that has a hoodie AND pockets. What is it called in english?

(I don't mind if the colors don't match since I can always dye it.)

Does anybody have any tips/experience cosplaying Nauta? I'm mostly just stumped on how I'll get the shoes right
