Why is everything so bad?

>find a shirt online that my boyfriend would love
>want to get it for him, but it's not his birthday or Christmas
>I have a strict rule to never, ever just randomly buy stuff for guys (unless they're financially supporting me in some way, and/or do the same for me) because I'm no pick-me ATM bitch
>know this would make him happy, but don't want to end up getting used
