You both make some very interesting and eye-opening points! Previously I wasn't able to put my finger on why I like old school so much, but thanks to >>9965934 I now understand that old school tends to look more doll-like thanks to its frumpiness, which I love.

I also agree that the demographic has changed, although I can only really talk about lolita from 2013-present. Everything now is about being a perfect princess uwu, and a lot of lolitas are more normie. >>9966111 explains it better when they talk about how a lot of lolitas nowadays aren't

I'm not sure how to describe it but I miss when lolita felt a little more...maybe not "frumpy", but it seems like the clothes used to have a little more "body" to them. I miss when there was a little bit of bagginess to the clothing, I think it looks cuter than the polished waist-hugging/cap sleeve shape that you see more nowadays.
