A vintage style I wish would regain more modern popularity and has a huge influence on Lolita fashion are the Gunne Sax and prairie dresses of the 60s and 70s. They're gorgeous and some of them have a very lolita-esque silhouette. I own two and they are impeccably made. still in great condition despite some of them most likely approaching 50 years old.

It was just the 70s edwardian/ pastoral revival fashion that spread to Japan. Maybe theirs didn't have such low cuts on some of the dresses. Apparently it was popular with house wives, wanting to be cute and practical.

I've always wanted to buy a gunne sax dress, but I keep getting afraid I'll look like one of those "AMISH OR HIPSTER??" people. No lies though, I love their neckline and bodices so much.
