I've been taking some of my extra garb and making it more ragged. I threw a tunic into the wash 3 times to get it to fade, ripped a bunch of shirts and rolled them in the dirt for a more stained look, I even took some black shoe polish to my brown pauldrons to give it a more worn look.
All we need to do is do peasant quests. Go back to killing rats in the cellar, but instead of progressing up the monster levels, we stay as peasants and drink a lot.
