Ah I wasn't sure if it was general musing or a reply! Either way I figured I'd clarify.

I totally agree with what you've said. It really is never "just clothes." I can understand if someone isn't interested in the deeper conversation, but if it really was just clothes and northing more, you wouldn't choose to wear something like Lolita. If you are wearing it, it means something to you.

I got into the fashion in 2008-2009, so I'm not that old I suppose! I did my Lolita growing up being influenced very much by old school and the subculture/lifestyle, so I feel older than I am. I'm technically a millennial but find it hard to connect with other people in my immediate age group because of different interests.

Honestly I'm glad to hear this! It's the only reason I come on here. I'm terrible with words too but I still want to try to express my feelings a little. I don't have an online presence, so I hope by contributing with positivity and discussion that maybe I can help inspire others to do the same.

I like artistic photoshoots, ones that showcase the Lolita spirit or a magical feeling, but I agree with you.

This troubles me too! Nobody has to participate if they don't want to, but it doesn't mean it's fake! I'm very much being my real self, I just happen to have several hobbies and interests that are Lolita-like, and I love Lolita so much that I enjoy talking about it and adding touches of beauty to other parts of my life. I also am a nice person and believe in good manners, Lolita or not, and honestly it scares me how many times I've been told that being polite is being fake. I personally believe if you are out in Lolita, you are representing the fashion and you should be generally nice and well mannered in public.

I was having a Lolita crisis for two years before I nearly left. Looking back at old photos and blogs was what made me realize I still loved Lolita deeply, just not modern Lolita.
